Description Surgi-ORC® represents a high-standard solution for intraoperative hemostasis. It is produced through the controlled oxidation of regenerated cellulose, resulting in a material that is fully biocompatible and bio-resorbable. When applied to a bleeding site, Surgi-ORC absorbs blood and swells into a brownish/black gelatinous layer. This reaction creates an acidic environment (low pH), which serves two critical functions: it facilitates the rapid formation of a fibrin plug and provides inherent bactericidal properties against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative organisms. Because it is derived from plant sources, it offers an excellent alternative for patients with sensitivities to animal-derived products. It is typically fully absorbed by the body within 7 to 14 days, making it one of the faster-resorbing hemostats available.
